The proof that Google doesn’t give a a flying monkey about Jaiku

Years ago it seems I asked for my Jaiku invite, but it never got processed. Today I stumbled over Jaiku again, found a ‘Join Now’ button and gave it a try. Mobile activation was defunct – and Stormgrass informed me that Google was planning to shut Jaiku down. That news had come out in January – now Jaiku is still up but if you ever had a doubt that it is dying, have a look at this: Jaiku doesn’t even have the permssion for a secure authorization request!
The poor people at Jaiku – it must really suck to see your baby go down the Tube like that. I wonder if they still have to show up for work?

Das ist zumindest nicht der einzige Google Service mit solch einer Meldung. Bin erst kürzlich auf ein offizielles Beispiel zur Google Analytics API gestoßen, dass sogar auf Googles Servern gehostet wurde und ebenfalls meine Zustimmung benötigt hat.
Haben die da irgendwas in ihrem Authentifizierungssystem umgestellt und sind einfach etwas lax darin nachzuhalten, wo sie jetzt noch eine solche Registrierung vornehmen müssen?
Ist ja auch allmählich etwas unübersichtlich, das Google Imperium.
Ich habe ehrlich gesagt keine Ahnung an was es liegt. Könnte mir aber vorstellen, dass sie es einfach vergessen haben diese Apps als „Authentifiziert“ einzutragen. Dieses API-Beispiel scheint nicht wichtig genug zu sein etc und JAIKU hat auch keinen großen Stellenwert bei Google mehr.
